Cryptography Director

  • Hybrid (UK)
  • £100-140k + bonus

Global bank seeks a Cryptography Director to join a growing and cutting-edge team of technical cryptography SMEs.

In this role, you will manage the team (2-3 people initially plus headcount) and develop the function, taking ownership of the Cryptography strategy for the bank globally.  You will also be responsible for the control environment of the Cryptography domain, ensuring cryptography standards and regulatory requirements are met.  You will have the opportunity to be involved in many cutting-edge projects, for example evaluating and opining as to whether the bank should pursue new projects within cryptography, such as quantum cryptography, and also how to manage cryptography in relation to the bank’s continued journey to cloud.

This is a senior hire for the bank, and as a Director you will be expected to challenge senior stakeholders which will require you to translate very technical language into language which can be understood by a non-technical audience.

The successful candidate will have a technical background in cryptography (to be clear, this is not a cryptography operations team) and is likely to have a post graduate degree in a related subject although this is not a pre-requisite.  You will be at the point in your career where you will be happy to be less hands-on now, and to use your skills in a more strategically focused role.

The role can be worked mainly from home but your contract will need to be linked to one of the bank’s major cyber hub offices as a full remote contract can’t be provided at this time.

You must be living in the UK currently and should have current right to work in the UK.

We seek individuals from a diverse talent pool and encourage applicants from underrepresented groups to apply to our vacancies. Our commitment to fair recruitment processes means that we welcome applicants from all backgrounds, regardless of their lived experience or personal characteristics. We also invite applicants who meet most of the listed requirements, even if not all, to apply. If you require any adjustments to the application process, please let us know.
