Internal Controls Lead

Barclay Simpson has been exclusively engaged by a government-funded transport and infrastructure business to recruit for the newly created position of Internal Controls Lead to take ownership of their UK SOx readiness activities. This role is mostly home-based with the requirement to go into their office near Cardiff every few weeks.

Reporting into the Head of Finance Transformation, Audit & Risk Committee and Controls SteerCo, you will take an autonomous lead on the implementation of a new Internal Controls Framework across the business and their subsidiaries. This framework will cover Internal Controls over Financial Reporting, non-financial controls and IT General Controls. You will be required to develop and populate the RACMs, complete process & control documentation, develop and deliver a control testing programme, work with the business on control remediation, design & implement new controls where necessary, implement a GRC tool and deliver workshop-style training for control owners across the company. You will be given budget to recruit an Internal Controls Analyst as a direct report to support you.

You will be an experienced Internal Controls professional and hold a relevant qualification (ACA/ACCA/IIA). Prior experience of implementing an Internal Controls Framework in any context (e.g. UK SOx, US SOx, J-SOx, C-SOx etc) is highly advantageous. You must have excellent stakeholder engagements, influencing and communication skills. Full eligibility to work in the UK without visa sponsorship is essential.

The salary on offer is £65,000 but this may increase slightly for an exceptional candidate.
