Regulatory Change AVP

London – City | Hybrid working | Up to £85,000

Barclay Simpson is supporting an international investment bank in the appointment of a Regulatory Change AVP.

I placed the hiring manager into the bank around a year ago. They are thoroughly enjoying the role and are now looking for additional support as the compliance function continues to develop.

This is more than a business-as-usual horizon-scanning position. The bank is strengthening its regulatory-change framework, introducing new governance forums, improving its systems and creating clearer oversight of regulatory obligations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute ideas, influence how the framework develops and help establish what good regulatory-change management should look like.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring regulatory developments and assessing their potential impact on the bank
• Coordinating the allocation of regulatory changes to the appropriate compliance specialists and business stakeholders
• Maintaining an accurate regulatory obligations register
• Tracking actions and ensuring regulatory developments are progressed appropriately
• Producing clear management information for senior stakeholders and governance committees
• Supporting newly established regulatory-change forums
• Contributing to wider compliance transformation and framework-enhancement projects
• Working with stakeholders across Compliance, the wider business and external advisers

The bank is ideally seeking someone with approximately three to five years’ relevant experience gained within regulatory change, compliance governance, regulatory affairs or a related compliance role.

Experience within an investment bank would be particularly relevant, although candidates from consulting, asset management or other financial-services environments will also be considered where they can demonstrate a strong understanding of regulatory-change processes.

You should be comfortable interpreting complex regulatory developments, producing high-quality MI and working with stakeholders across different areas of a business. The role will suit someone who is analytical, organised and inquisitive, with the confidence to ask questions and take ownership of their work.

The position is based in the City of London with hybrid working and offers a salary of up to £85,000, depending on experience.
