Model Validation Manager

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Model Validation Manager to join a leading UK Bank in Manchester. As the Model Validation Manager, you will play a crucial role in independently reviewing models from all areas of the bank, providing an exceptional level of exposure and learning. The scope of the team’s work includes capital IRB, stress testing, and IFRS9 models across all portfolios.

Responsibilities:

  • Review technical documentation describing model development and validation, assessing adherence to the relevant regulatory environment.
  • Replicate model developments, analyze their performance, and construct challenger models to assess their effectiveness.
  • Prepare detailed documents, including thorough analysis, for audit and regulatory review, effectively communicating model risks.
  • Manage and mentor a technical analyst, ensuring they deliver against targeted plans, while also independently delivering validation projects within specified deadlines.
  • Build collaborative relationships across the organization with key stakeholders, including Director-level executives, and present validation findings to approval committees, ensuring communication is focused and engaging for the audience.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Significant and extensive track record of successful delivery in a statistical analysis or modeling role.
  • Proven experience in interpreting technical documentation and regulatory risk compliance to produce written reports tailored to specific audiences, challenging model proposals, and conveying model risk in a clear and concise manner
  • Key experience in conducting statistical analysis in a coding environment such as SAS, SQL, R, or Python.
