Senior Associate – Asset Management Internal Audit

  • Edinburgh
  • £60,000 - £70,000 per year

Barclay Simpson is working exclusively with a leading international asset manager to recruit a Senior Associate into its Internal Audit function in Edinburgh.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a developing internal audit team within a successful international investment business, offering broad exposure, senior stakeholder interaction and the opportunity to take ownership of audit assignments.

The position can be appointed at either Senior Associate or Vice President level, depending on experience, with a base salary budget of up to £70,000. For someone joining at Senior Associate level, there is good scope to progress to VP in the short to medium term, subject to performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, based in London, you will help deliver the risk-based audit plan across the business, working closely with colleagues and stakeholders internationally.

You will be responsible for planning, executing and reporting on internal audit assignments, taking ownership of audits from initial scoping through to final reporting. This will involve evaluating governance, risk management and internal control frameworks, identifying weaknesses and recommending practical improvements.

You will also develop relationships with senior stakeholders, communicate audit findings clearly and constructively, and contribute to the continued development of the internal audit function, including its methodology and approach to audit delivery.

Your Background

We are looking for candidates with at least five years’ internal audit experience, ideally gained within asset management, investment management or private markets. However, strong candidates from the wider financial services sector will also be considered.

You should have experience of delivering internal audit assignments independently, including planning, fieldwork, stakeholder engagement and reporting. Strong communication skills, sound judgement and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders are important.

A relevant professional qualification, or progress towards one, would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a growing internal audit function within an international asset manager, with exposure to a broad range of business activities and the chance to work closely with senior audit leadership.

The successful candidate will have considerable responsibility for delivering audit assignments, alongside opportunities to develop their technical knowledge, broaden their experience and progress their career. For someone appointed at Senior Associate level, there is the potential to move into a Vice President position in the short to medium term as they demonstrate their capabilities.

The role is based in Edinburgh, with an expectation of three days per week in the office. Some travel may be required, although this is expected to be limited.
