Interim Governance & Compliance Manager (18-Month Fixed-Term Contract)
Location: Buckinghamshire (Hybrid)
Salary: £60,000–£75,000 + Benefits
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Barclay Simpson is partnering with a well-established organisation operating within the automotive sector to recruit an Interim Governance & Compliance Manager for an 18-month fixed-term contract.
This role has been created to provide immediate operational leadership and stability within an established governance function while the organisation undertakes a longer-term permanent recruitment process.
This is not a purely strategic governance role. The successful candidate will be expected to become involved in the day-to-day operation of the function from day one, working across multiple priorities, managing stakeholders, and ensuring key governance activities continue to operate effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day management of an established governance and compliance programme.
- Manage external suppliers against agreed operational and service delivery targets.
- Review audit findings, action plans and governance documentation.
- Respond to governance and compliance queries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain and enhance policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
- Support operational improvements and ongoing governance initiatives.
- Produce management information and monitor programme performance.
- Line manage one direct report and support wider team activities.
Candidate Profile
We’re looking for an experienced, pragmatic manager who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Previous experience managing governance, compliance, audit or operational assurance programmes.
- The ability to quickly understand complex operational environments and make sound decisions.
- Experience managing multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
- Strong stakeholder management and supplier oversight experience.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A hands-on approach with a willingness to become involved in the operational delivery of the function—not simply strategic oversight.
Experience gained within automotive, vehicle finance, fleet, transport, financial services or another regulated environment would be highly advantageous.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who can provide safe, experienced hands, quickly integrate into the team and help deliver a busy operational governance programme from day one.
Candidates must be available to start immediately or within a very short notice period.
