Senior Legal Counsel
My client is a well known financial services firm operating across multiple jurisdictions and they are looking for a seasoned in house Lawyer to join them to work directly under the GC.
The business is already well established but there is a lot of growth and change going on so there will be a lot of interesting work to get stuck into.
The role won’t have direct line management responsibility but it will operate as a senior team member and be expected to support the rest of the team if the GC isn’t available.
The team has a broad remit but the key projects and areas that will be covered are:
- Corporate – large global restructuring project
- Commercial – massive group wide IT transformation project
- FS specific work – Regulatory, reinsurance & custodian agreements etc.
- Litigation & Disputes – ongoing work in this space
The GC is a seasoned in house lawyer and he has a string team underneath him. This role will play a key part in helping to support the wider team, manage relationships with key senior internal stakeholders and take ownership of multiple projects.
It’s a great business with a lot of growth and things happening.
They can offer a lot of flexibility but you will need to be able to get to their office in the South East when needed.
They need someone with enough experience and judgement to be able to take on projects by themselves and manager internal relationships. You will need to understand the UK regulatory environment and have demonstrable financial services experience. Exposure to disputes and litigation would be useful but not a must have. Prior experience of working in a multi jurisdictional environment would also be useful but not a requirement.
We’re probably looking at a minimum of 10 years PQE but it is more about the individual and experience they bring than a specific target PQE number. Both in house and private practice will be considered but no prior in house experience will make this a tricky transition.
