Associate Surveillance Officer (Python Essential)
London (Hybrid) | £45,000 – £55,000 Base | Financial Services

A leading financial services firm is hiring an Associate Surveillance Officer to join its growing Compliance Surveillance function in London.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with trading data, surveillance alerts, and investigations, and wants to be part of a team focused on strengthening controls around market abuse and conduct risk.
What you’ll be doing

Monitoring surveillance alerts across trades, orders, RFQs and market data

Investigating suspicious activity and escalating potential breaches

Supporting surveillance model calibration, testing and enhancement

Producing high-quality MI and reporting for senior stakeholders

Working closely with Compliance, Front Office and IT teams
What we’re looking for
✅ Python experience is essential (data analysis / automation / reporting)
✅ Strong analytical and investigative mindset
✅ Confident communicator with solid report writing skills
✅ Comfortable working with large datasets and fast-paced daily monitoring
Nice to have (but not required)

Trade surveillance or compliance monitoring experience

Knowledge of capital markets products (FX, Rates, Credit, Treasury, Structured Products)

Awareness of Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) and conduct risk frameworks
The offer

£45,000 – £55,000 base salary

Strong exposure to surveillance models, market abuse scenarios, and regulatory-driven investigations
