Legal Counsel
We’re working with an established investment management firm to hire a new Lawyer into its London team. We’ve recruited for the business before and know the structure and expectations well.
This is a genuinely rare opportunity for a strong IT / technology contracts lawyer to move into a boutique financial services business.
The focus of the hire is clear: they want someone confident handling technology, data and complex vendor contracts within a regulated environment.
This is not a funds lawyer role or a regulatory role. They have those skillsets within the team already.
The core of the job is commercial and tech-driven. But, unlike a pure corporate or procurement position, you’ll sit inside an investment platform — giving you exposure to client agreements, regulatory considerations and the broader legal mechanics of a fund business.
What you’ll be doing

Leading on IT, SaaS, licensing and key operational contracts

Advising on technology procurement and third-party arrangements

Supporting data protection and information governance matters
Alongside this, you’ll gain visibility of investment management agreements and regulatory issues affecting the business — without being expected to come in as a funds specialist.
That combination is unusual.
Who this suits
The most likely background is a 3–4PQE lawyer with strong IT / tech contracts experience who wants to move into financial services but doesn’t want to abandon their core expertise. This could be direct out of practice or coming out of another in house role. Exposure to FS would be helpful but not a strict requirement.
The other option is a more seasoned lawyer who just wants to get stuck into the technical work where they could potentially consider it on less than 5 days a week. This could be someone who has taken some time out and is returning to work.
You’ll need to be comfortable negotiating independently and dealing directly with business stakeholders.
