Company Overview

Our client is a well-established insurance business that forms part of a wider financial services group. Currently in a period of transformation, the business is investing in strengthening its 2nd Line Risk function and embedding a more mature risk framework across the organisation. This is a great time to join a business on a journey of improvement, with strong executive buy-in and an emphasis on cultural alignment and positive outcomes.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Group Head of Risk, the Risk Analyst will play a key role in supporting the implementation and maintenance of the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) framework across the organisation. You will work closely with business units across multiple entities, providing challenge, guidance, and oversight to ensure effective risk management practices are in place.

This is a highly visible role that interacts with stakeholders across all levels, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys building relationships with the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and ongoing maintenance of the group risk framework.
  • Lead on the coordination and delivery of the RCSA cycle across business units.
  • Provide independent review and challenge of risk registers, controls, and self-assessments.
  • Guide the business on RCSA processes and provide subject matter expertise where required.
  • Support risk training delivery across the organisation.
  • Assist in drafting risk reporting for Board-level committees.
  • Monitor and review risk exceptions and ensure appropriate escalation and reporting.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory and compliance developments relevant to the insurance sector.
  • Provide ad hoc support to wider 2nd Line Risk functions, including contributions to ORSA and other risk-related reporting.

Experience & Skills Required

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience within a Risk function, ideally within general insurance or a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise and operational risk frameworks, including the three lines of defence model.
  • Hands-on experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) cycles.
  • Familiarity with SM&CR and wider regulatory expectations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ACII, IRM, or equivalent) are advantageous.

Why Apply?

  • Join a collaborative and supportive risk team at an early stage of its transformation.
  • Work closely with a well-regarded leadership team that promotes recognition and career development.
  • Enjoy a flexible hybrid working model with a central Manchester office.
  • Competitive benefits package including 31 days annual leave, pension, and private health options.
