The role is located in Houston, but will have exposure to the wider global team.

 

Position Overview:

We’re hiring for a talented Market Risk professional to be based in Houston, to report directly to the Deputy Chief Risk Officer. As a key player, you’ll evaluate potential losses in the trading book, providing high-quality analysis and advice on quantitative and modelling issues to maximize value and control risk exposure.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Understand trading concepts, focusing on the oil, power and gas markets to identify key influences on price changes.

Daily risk report generation and analysis on trading books.

Review risk models, margining methodology, and contribute to system development.

Assess various transactions through modelling and analysis.

Communicate results effectively to traders and senior management.

Proactively identify and communicate potential issues, ensuring accurate reflection in reports.

Engage in regular discussions with traders and management about exposure.

 

Requirements:

Degree-level education with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Previous experience in energy and/or finance industry preferred.

Understanding of VaR and the oil market advantageous.

Strong analytical skills, MS Excel, and VBA proficiency; basic knowledge of another programming language desirable.

Excellent communication skills, ability to convey complex ideas to diverse groups.

Constructive challenge capability while maintaining positive working relationships.

Effective team player with autonomy in handling various issues.
