Global Head of Credit Underwriting

Our client, a well-established commodity trading company, is seeking a Head of Global Credit Underwriting to join their Credit Risk department in London, UK. This is a newly created senior role that looks to centralise parts of the credit assessment activity across the Global Marketing business.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the credit assessment methodology and templates
  • Lead a team of credit analysts based in South Africa
  • Analyse macro events and financial market activity to identify risk
  • Provide credit risk recommendations to the deal team
  • Build relationships with key third-party providers and monitor credit issues across the portfolio
  • Own management reporting for global credit risk
  • Maintain the storage and recording of credit assessments and data
  • Define the team strategy and build a development platform for the team

 

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in credit risk analysis, with a focus on the corporate sector
  • Background in investment banking, oil major, commodity trader, or utility
  • Strong experience assessing credit risk in the commodity sector, including oil majors, miners, refiners, and utilities
  • Knowledge of credit rating agency methodologies and scoring models
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience communicating with senior stakeholders
  • Passion for staying informed about the external environment and inquisitive nature
  • Team management experience preferred but not required.
