Our client, a leading commodities brokerage firm, is in search of a highly skilled and motivated Credit Analyst to join its dynamic team. Committed to excellence and innovation, they provide unparalleled expertise and services in the commodities market.

 

Position Overview:

The company is currently seeking a talented Credit Analyst to focus on physical oil trading within the EMEA region, with a specialised emphasis on Africa. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assessing and managing credit risks associated with their trading activities, ensuring the stability and growth of their operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Credit Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive credit analysis on counterparties involved in physical oil trading, with a specific focus on African markets.
  2. Portfolio Management: Monitor and manage credit exposures within the physical oil trading portfolio, identifying potential risks and proposing risk mitigation strategies.
  3. Due Diligence: Perform in-depth due diligence on new and existing clients, evaluating their financial stability, creditworthiness, and adherence to industry regulations.
  4. Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, geopolitical developments, and economic factors impacting the physical oil trading industry in the EMEA region, especially in Africa.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with the trading team to provide timely credit assessments, facilitating informed decision-making in trading activities.
  6. Documentation: Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of credit-related information, contracts, and agreements.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
  2. Proven experience as a Credit Analyst in the commodities or energy trading industry, with a focus on physical oil trading.
  3. In-depth knowledge of EMEA markets, particularly Africa, and an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the region.
  4. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound credit decisions.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  6. Proficiency in financial modelling, risk assessment tools, and relevant software.
