Contract Programme Manager for Energy Group

Opportunity

This international specialist energy group had a requirement for an experienced contractor to undertake a lead Programme Manager role of a complex cyber security transformation programme. The person requirements were complicated by the need for the person to pass a BPSS and to be eligible to gain SC Clearance. The Programme Manager role was a hybrid position with 3 days a week on site and 2 days remote, with a difficult location to get to.

Approach

The client had a structured Preferred Supplier List of agencies, and each instructed agency was only permitted to submit 3 candidates. Out of the three that we sent, three had first interviews and one progressed to second stage but was rejected as they didn’t possess enough experience in information governance and data security. However, none of the other submitted candidates were accepted. Starting from square one, we drew on the depth of our candidate database and identified someone who was a strong match for the Programme Manager role who would shortly be completing a contract and becoming available.

Outcome

We ensured that the candidate rapidly attained clearance and was submitted, progressing through the 3-stage interview process, and commencing work within a month of us receiving the instruction. The contract has been extended three times with the contractor’s Programme Manager role being expanded and her day rate consequentially increased to reflect her more senior status.
