Leading Financial Services Firm – Operational Risk Manager – New York City
We are working with a global financial services firm that is expanding its U.S. risk function and looking to bring on an Operational Risk Manager in New York City.
This role is highly visible within the business, serving as the main point of contact for operational risk in the region. You’d work closely with senior leaders to enhance the risk framework, oversee governance reporting, lead risk/control assessments, and help foster a proactive risk-aware culture across the firm.
What they’re looking for:
- 6+ years’ experience in operational or enterprise risk management within financial services.
- Strong understanding of risk frameworks (Basel, COSO, ERM) and proven ability to conduct risk/control assessments.
- Background in capital markets, with knowledge of fixed income, FX, bonds, treasuries, and equities trade life cycles.
- Solid grasp of futures, cash equities, and government treasuries from a mechanical/process perspective.
- Ability to navigate both buy-side and sell-side operations effectively.
- Experience with agency execution, principal trading, and voice vs. electronic brokering.
- Skilled in identifying issues early, managing challenges, and driving resolution before they escalate.
- Confident communicator who can influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels.
