Operational Risk Manager
Overview
We are supporting an impact focused investment group that is continuing to grow and evolve its enterprise risk capability. As the organisation scales across emerging markets, operational risk has become increasingly central to strategy, capital allocation and board level decision making.
The role sits in the second line and will suit someone who enjoys building, improving and connecting risk frameworks to data, systems and strategic outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Support the development, review and ongoing enhancement of the Group Operational Risk Framework
- Embed operational risk across business activities, strategic initiatives and change programmes
- Provide independent oversight and constructive challenge to first line risk assessments, including people, process, systems, third party and outsourcing risks
- Develop and maintain risk tools including RCSAs, KRIs, incidents and issues management, and risk appetite metrics
- Use data and analytics to identify trends, emerging risks and concentrations, translating insight into clear recommendations
- Support board and senior management risk reporting, ensuring clarity, relevance and quality
- Contribute to the development of a practical GRC approach, linking risk insights to internal systems and data sources
- Partner closely with investment teams, compliance and internal audit to promote a strong, integrated risk culture
- Support operational resilience, business continuity and response planning activity
Candidate profile
- Demonstrable second line operational risk experience
- Strong understanding of operational and enterprise risk frameworks and good practice standards
- Comfortable working in evolving environments with a degree of ambiguity
- Strong analytical capability, with interest or experience in data, systems and risk analytics
- Confident engaging with and challenging senior stakeholders
- Clear, structured communicator with strong written and verbal skills
- Background could include financial services, professional services, development finance, private markets or complex multinational environments
