This is the 22nd year we have produced market reports reviewing and analysing recruitment trends in corporate governance. This mid-year report looks at the year to date and offers insights into how the recruitment market may develop for the rest of 2012 and beyond.

The corporate governance recruitment market remains delicately balanced between the need for companies to recruit and their reluctance to invest.  Recruitment is a form of investment and investment is based on confidence. Unfortunately the Eurozone crisis is currently totally undermining confidence. 

Whilst companies are still recruiting and the careers of corporate governance practitioners advancing, it is difficult to see a return to anything like historic growth and recruitment patterns, until a solution to the Eurozone problem is found. With many believing that the situation could get worse, a solution is not imminent.
