Legal Market Report 2016

Our 2016 Market Report combines our review of the prevailing conditions in the in-house legal recruitment market together with the results of our latest employer survey. We look to analyse and discuss the latest trends in the recruitment market. Our survey and market experience highlights that many in-house legal departments remain understaffed and recruitment remains a key priority. Whilst competition for lawyers is intense, companies remain highly focused on the quality of the lawyers they recruit. Standards continue to rise.  
  • 59% of in-house legal departments believe they do not have sufficient resources for the demands made upon on them. (Up from 54% last year)   
  • 71% of in-house legal departments have recruited or attempted to recruit externally in the last 6 months of 2015. (Down from 77% last year)
  • 91% of legal departments anticipate they will need to recruit in 2016.
  • Highest demand for lawyers with 3-5 years PQE.
