The Division


Barclay Simpson’s Interim Solutions division was created in 2001. It currently comprises 8 consultants and is one of the highest performing divisions in the business. The team recruits across all of Barclay Simpson’s key markets, with between 1-3 interim consultants dedicated to each vertical.  The exception is the Legal market where we do not yet have a dedicated interim offering.  We are keen to address this with the hire of an interim consultant to specifically focus on this area.


Barclay Simpson established their Legal Division in 2008 and has since built up a niche as an in-house specialist and are considered one of the leading in-house recruiters in London. This division started as a financial services specialist, developing an established client base across retail, investment and corporate banking, asset management and insurance, but there are future plans to grow further into the in-house Commerce & Industry sector. 


We recruit all levels of qualified lawyer from Junior Legal Counsel through to Heads of Legal & Compliance and General Counsel and work across all disciplines including transactional banking, capital markets, corporate, commercial, funds, regulatory, insurance, employment, data privacy and technology.


Within financial services, we are tier 1 suppliers to a wide range of sizeable institutions; our goal is to expand our supplier status to include temporary/interim. We currently have some large temporary accounts, including universal and Tier 1 banks, but want to significantly grow and develop this list.



The Role


One of our key markets on the permanent side is our legal division, yet this is an area not currently covered specifically by our Interim team. 


The legal permanent division currently comprises 3 staff (but with plans to grow in the medium term),   and has historically been one of the biggest billing divisions in the company.  This provides us with the market presence, key client relationships and candidate base to consider developing our interim offering within this sector.



In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to work in a warm sector area with huge potential to develop into a high billing desk.


We offer a supportive team structure with training provided as necessary.  Both the Interim and Legal divisions are highly experienced teams with strong reputations in our key markets.


The role is offered at Senior Consultant grade (though we would also consider a well established Consultant looking to step up).  In terms of progression, we have 2 career paths available (the team leader into management path or high biller non-management path).  Both options could potentially be available on this desk in the future.



The Candidate


We are looking for someone with previous recruitment experience in a 360 role, focussing on a professional sector (ideally legal or another central function in the banking sector).  Although advantageous, previous legal subject matter expertise is not a prerequisite as we have the knowledge internally to train and develop this.


Based on the requirements of this market, we require a highly credible, well presented, confident and self-starting individual.  We are looking for someone with a quality focussed sales approach, who can consolidate and build existing relationships, develop new business, and take ownership of this area.  It is essential that the candidate can demonstrate previous experience of developing their market (i.e. networking, business development, chasing leads, pitching, cross selling), not just account management.


Previous temporary recruitment experience is not essential, but would again be advantageous.
