The Division


To take advantage of changing market conditions, Barclay Simpson established a new European division in 2017, operating out of the London.  The team currently comprises 4 senior recruiters and 2 researchers, focusing on the markets of Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, Treasury, Cyber Security and Internal Audit.


The team already has over 30 European PSL agreements comprised of Tier 1 banks, private banks, asset management firms, FTSE 100 corporates and brokerage firms and a geographical focus predominately concentrates on the markets covering Germany, Benelux, France, Ireland and Switzerland.


Europe is an intrinsic part of our 5 year company strategic plan and we are dedicating considerable resource to growing and developing the division. In 2019 our European team has the highest % of anticipated NFI growth across any of our global divisions.



The Role


The Information Security division at Barclay Simpson has been established for over fifteen years with permanent and interim teams operating in both London and New York. We are already viewed as a market leader in the UK and the appointment of a senior consultant for information security for Europe is a natural progression for our business. 


This role will report directly to the Head of European Risk, Treasury & Cyber Security. You will be responsible for assisting in the development of our Information Security European presence and be expected to play an integral, influential role within our global Information Security division. Whilst there are a number of existing clients and candidates to work from, this role will also require you to develop and build out your own network.




Key responsibilities will include:


  • Develop the Barclay Simpson governance brand across the European Information Security market including pitching for new business (PSL, exclusive/retained assignments)

  • Take ownership in building and maintaining an accurate database, market mapping European information security teams as required.

  • Provide P&L input into the European Cyber Security budget

  • Proactively collaborate with international teams. Monthly and Quarterly updates with the Head of UK and Head of US Cyber Security to discuss the European cyber market

  • You will be expected to meet clients and candidates as required within Europe. This might be 1-2 trips per quarter.



The Candidate


  • The successful candidate will have an understanding of technology and/or information/cyber security recruitment, exposure to European recruitment markets is advantageous but not essential.

  • Previous experience as a 360 consultant is essential

  • Strong business development skills are a prerequisite and you should be able to provide evidence of success in this area.

  • The most important attribute will be your attitude, personality and drive to assist us in building out our European division.

  • We are a high performance team, highly collaborative and seeking an individual who shares in our passion for delivering a quality service.

  • European language skills are preferred but not essential
