Job Description

My client, a large, well known international banking group is looking to hire a senior manager with Insurance and NBFI counterparty credit risk experience.

The Senior Manager, Insurance and NBFI Credit has specific responsibility for the Insurance and Non-Bank Financial Institutions (“NBFI”) portfolio, including implementation of policy/risk appetite issues, for the following counterparty groups:

  • Insurance companies.
  • Global Insurance Brokers
  • Lloyds of London
  • Non-Bank Financial Institutions
  • Asset managers and traditional funds.
  • Pension Funds

The role has been created as a result of structural reform and will manage a team that covers all transactions booked in the UK.

As a Senior Manager, Insurance and NBFIs your main responsibilities will be

  • Accurately assessing and managing relevant risks.
  • Reporting, challenging and reviewing of relevant risks, properly escalating when necessary.
  • Maintaining and executing all necessary ratings, limit reviews, database updates and reports.
  • Proactively taking personal responsibility for promoting understanding of risk awareness across team and other business areas.
  • Generating a motivating, efficient and productive environment by; managing by example, delegating responsibilities, facilitating and encouraging the contact with front office and other support areas across the organization and facilitating the improvement and development of the team.

Minimum skills and experience required

  •  Broad, all-round Credit knowledge across Insurers and NBFIs.
  • In-depth product knowledge of trading products (including derivatives, stock lending, repo), collateral management methodology and legal or documentation issues, to allow the risk factors to be thoroughly identified and understood.
  • Ability to work under pressure and exercise judgement, and make decisions to tight deadlines, as necessary, in a trading environment.
  • Capability to undertake a broader overview of operations and understand the risks, both from a credit, and an operational perspective.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage, and develop, a team of analysts, to ensure quality of the portfolio is maintained and effective support of trading operations is provided.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively across the full range of business levels and senior external stakeholders.
