Job Description

A position has become available at one of the world's leading investment banks for an AVP, Sanctions Investigator. The primary focus of the role will be to investigate complex trade finance transactions that are escalated to you from the screening function, whilst also having oversight of all other major global banking & markets asset classes.


You would be located in the bank's European head office, based in London and will have oversight of all trading activity across the entire EMEA region, with branches being located in all major financial hubs in the region. As a result, you will work closely with the deal teams to investigate any potential threats that are escalated to you that could compromise OFAC and EU Sanctions.


Desired Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

- Strong knowledge of both EU & OFAC Sanctions programmes, existing sanctions lists and implications of these on investment banking.

- Broad understanding of banking, financial crime risk (Sanctions & AML) in banking and a general understanding of the concepts of risk management and control.

- Good understanding of trade finance and investment banking products.

- Understanding of wider financial crime prevention regulations, such as: 4th & 5th Money Laundering Directives, UK Bribery Act, international sanctions programmes.

- Preferred - 2-5 years of relevant banking/compliance experience.
