Job Description

The role:

The Risk Manager will be aware of new trades, new structure and the flow in the business. The Risk Manager will look at stress testing, pnl explain and product control. The role requires the individual to have a pro-active approach to communication with the traders to learn their views and trades as well as the risk and reward of the positions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Ability to calculate and report daily risk analysis on trading books.
  • Ability to share with the team the responsibility to maintain price databases.
  • To undertake assessments of a wide range of transactions
  • To communicate results effectively with traders and senior management.
  • To proactively identify and communicate issues that may cause a surprise and ensure that reports or measurements present a reflection of this.
  • Ability to use and understand trading concepts and identify the main influences that drive changes in prices and price relationships.
  • To regularly engage in discussion with traders and management about exposure taken.

 

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Good experience gained in a well-established fund, bank or physical house.
  • Likely to come from a risk or product control background.
  • Proven experience working with financial products
  • Candidate may have understanding of energy markets and derivatives/options in particular, but commodities experience is not a prerequisite
  • Highly numerate, with good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good MS Excel and VBA knowledge; a working knowledge of another programming language is beneficial e.g. python
  • Highly motivated and organised individual able to work under pressure and within deadlines, and with the ability and confidence to question the status quo and maintain the independence and integrity of the Risk function.
  • Well presented, with good interpersonal skills, capable of forming good working relationships both inside and outside of their own team.
