The Division

Barclay Simpson has one of the City’s most established risk recruitment teams with a proven track record across all functions of risk management. The team has doubled its billings in the last year and the interim risk desk was the highest billing area within this last year.

Risk is one of the fastest growing areas of recruitment globally since the credit crisis in 2007/8. Our focus is deeply seated on the agenda of all Chief Executives across financial services with all financial services firms having a Chief Risk Officer on their board of directors. In addition to growth, risk has developed as a discipline in its own right more than almost any other area of financial services in the last decade.

The combination of high levels of growth, development and importance on the agenda of regulators has meant that recruiting for risk remains a growing market. This is coupled with a buoyant interim market and demand from clients to utilize a flexible and specialist workforce.

Our global risk recruitment team has 18 members split between New York, UAE and London.  Operating on both a contract and permanent basis, we have made over 500 placements into 150 clients since the team was created.

Our team places candidates from Analyst through to Managing Director, Global Heads of Department as well as Subject Matter Experts. We are well networked with the majority of the financial institutions in London. Each consultant has a deep technical knowledge of their respective markets with an average 10 years’ experience recruiting in their field.

 

 

 

 

The Role

This role is specifically focussed on the interim/contract Risk division which covers all 4 core risk disciplines, making it a broad and varied market. There is a regular flow of roles from a range of long term clients, combined with the opportunity for further growth by strategically developing new business. The addition of a Resourcer to the team will ensure both greater speed and accuracy in our delivery capability to clients and provide opportunity to expand our offering in this space even further.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Mapping the market, researching the industry to gain a clear understanding of client businesses, organization structures and recruitment requirements.

  • Assisting in the administration of Barclay Simpson’s in-house database (Profile) and in the recording and managing of candidate data, ensuring all candidates spoken to are appropriately coded and activated. Ensuring candidate CVs are correctly formatted.

  • Regularly scan job boards and Linked In for new or active candidates coming on to the market.

  • Under the guidance of the Interim Risk recruiter and Team Manager, call candidates to ascertain their interest in exploring contract opportunities, as well as calling or headhunting candidates to explore their interest in live roles that Barclay Simpson is recruiting for. 

  • Assist in direct marketing efforts where appropriate, including sending out mailers and other collateral under the guidance of the Team Manager and Interim Risk recruiter.

  • Attend interviews and client meetings where appropriate with the Interim Risk recruiter.

 

The successful candidate will report to the Risk Team manager in London who has over eleven years’ experience recruiting in Risk. The role holder will benefit from formal training in addition to being trained on the desk by all members of the team, namely the specialist interim risk recruiter.

 

 

The Candidate

  • The successful candidate is likely to be a graduate, although non-graduates will be considered if they have direct experience of either sales or recruitment

  • Have an active interest in financial services, sales and recruitment. This will be tested at interview.

  • Ability to accurately record work undertaken. Effective time management and focus on achieving agreed results.
