Job Description

A part time opportunity for an experienced treasury professional, working 2 days a week. As Treasurer, you will provide independent financial and treasury advice to ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations.


Principle Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review financial systems and procedures to ensure financial regulations, audit requirements and other financial needs are met. Key aspects include treasury management including borrowing and investments, liaison with internal audit and ensuring audit findings are duly considered and implemented, risk management and insurances.
  • Ensure all activity relating to treasury management issues, including borrowing and cash flow forecasts are compliant with treasury management policies and practices.
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring and forecasting of budgets, and report on the potential short, medium and long term impacts.
  • Oversee financial affairs to ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practices.
  • Ensure relevant reports contain a full and accurate financial appraisal.
  • Provide professional and practical support to the Head of Finance to enable them to fulfil their responsibilities.
  • Assist the Head of Finance with the assessment of pricing structures and bids to enable the effective and appropriate evaluation and decision making in relation to the award of contracts and service level agreements in accordance with best value principles.
  • Ensure the Board is informed of relevant statutory changes and advise on the financial impact, and ensure finances are appropriately factored into planning and decision making.
  • In conjunction with the Head of Finance ensure there is appropriate representation on the Pension Board and that actions arising are duly implemented.



  • Professional accountancy qualification.
  • Treasury qualification desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of financial management gained within a Treasury environment.
  • Effective financial analysis and report writing skills.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge, confidence and ability to challenge at the highest level of an organisation any poor practice or financial mismanagement.
