Senior Market Risk Analyst – Physical Gas and Power

  • £80k-£100k plus bonus

We’re working with one of the fastest growing and global renewable energy companies who have an exciting opportunity in their London Market Risk team for a Senior Analyst VP Level. The role is a 2-year FTC with the view to stay on permanently. The salary ranges between £80k-£100k plus bonus / benefits and flexible working with 2 or 3 days in the Canary Wharf office. This will suit an individual who is immediately available or on a short notice period and has strong physical gas and power experience.

Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Market Risk Analyst acts as a subject matter expert within the Market Risk team, managing responses for the wider business and providing solutions for immediate or complicated risk topics and measurements.
  • You will support other team members and collaborate across the business to deliver enhanced and portfolio-appropriate risk measurement.
  • Topics such as market analysis, risk assessments for new products, automated reporting solutions, model validation and audit work, and modelling complex energy products are all part of the job.

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years in a similar role that includes gas and power physical risk experience.
  • Those in a pricing / trading / risk role will also be considered if you have covered physical gas and power.
  • You’ll need the skills to numerically set up a concept and model and explain this in an understandable manner.
  • You will also have experience in performing detailed risk assessments and investigations, creating proposals and presenting to management, monitoring and reporting on traded and non-traded positions, developing new risk reporting and analysis templates, and providing cover for other members of the Market Risk team.
  • Additional skills should include strong Excel (including VBA), SQL and SSIS experience, VaR and risk control frameworks and have the ability to support and develop junior colleagues and be involved in cross-department projects.
