Job Description

A global financial institution based in Central London is seeking 2 lawyers for a brand new team. The team is seeking one junior and one senior lawyer at between 1 and 4 for the junior role and between 5 and 8 for the senior role. The team will be responsible for dealing with risk self assessments, policies, controls and assurance in respect of the risk profile as well as dealing with the reporting on all of the organisations contentious matters. However the role will be much broader than this and will require you to get involved in a wide mix of work depending on the time of year. Litigators are highly preferable but the team are open as long as the candidates have strong financial services experience. It should be noted that this is not a litigation management role. 

The role will involve having a number of projects on the go on a daily basis so you will need to be able to juggle multiple things and effectively prioritise. You will be required to reach out to stakeholders in multiple areas including legal, finance, investor relations and compliance. Your work will depend on what stakeholders want and need so you will need to be an effective communicator and be comfortable challenging expectations.

As a qualified lawyer between the 1 and 4 or 5 and 8 pqe mark you will have proven experience in the financial services space either from a top ranking city law firm or an in-house role. The types of lawyers that would work best for this team are those with a litigation background or strong experience in corporate (both M&A or advisory) and general banking. This will be a high performing team who will deal directly with the Group General Counsel of the institution and have further stakeholder exposure with very senior individuals across the organisation and therefore very strong communication skills are essential. The senior role will come with some team management responsibilities and the salary packages for both roles will be competitive.
