Job Description

A global financial institution based in Central London is seeking a qualified lawyer for a newly created director role within a recently established and rapidly growing team. This will be a critical role within the team and will involve the management of 3 team members. The team as a whole are responsible for dealing with risk self assessments, policies, controls and assurance in respect of the risk profile as well as dealing with the reporting on all of the organisations contentious matters. 

As a director in the team your role will be very varied and some examples of the work you will be involved in are as follows. You will be focusing on establishing and delivering the organisations global processes in relation to Legal Risk as part of the Enterprise wise Risk Management Framework requirements. You will lead centralised processes in relation to contentious matters managed by the organisations legal function from a risk, governance and control perspective. You will play a key role in delivering the teams management strategy for the legal function globally and you will meet with internal and external stakeholders regularly to obtain their input on this and communicate any changes in the strategy or their responsibilities. 

As a qualified lawyer with at least 8 years pqe you will have proven experience in the financial services space either from a top ranking city law firm or an in-house role. The types of lawyers that would work best for this team are those with financial services risk experience within a legal context, a regulatory background or a litigation background. This is an extremely high performing team who will deal directly with the Group General Counsel of the institution and have further stakeholder exposure with very senior individuals across the organisation and therefore very strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential.
