Role Overview:

Experienced Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity (DR & BC) Consultant required for global firm. The role will be focused on the overall enhancement of their DR and BC frameworks. This role will ensure strategies are robust, efficient, and aligned with current business needs, regulatory standards, and operational expectations. The consultant will work closely with cross-functional teams to assess risks, identify gaps, and implement processes to safeguard business operations against potential disruptions.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Analysis:

  • Conduct a thorough review and assessment of the organization’s existing Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC) frameworks.
  • Identify gaps, weaknesses, and areas for improvement in alignment with the organization’s business priorities, regulatory requirements, and global manufacturing best practices.
  • Analyse potential risks specific to the manufacturing industry, including supply chain disruptions, cyber-attacks, natural disasters, equipment failure, and operational downtimes.

Framework Enhancement:

  • Design and implement an enhanced, fit-for-purpose DR & BC framework that supports the organization’s global operations.
  • Develop business continuity strategies to minimize downtime and maintain critical operations in the event of a disaster or major disruption.
  • Enhance and update recovery plans for key IT systems, manufacturing facilities, supply chains, and global operations.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure the DR & BC plans align with local and international regulatory standards, industry best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Work with risk management teams to identify emerging threats and ensure preparedness.
  • Develop monitoring and reporting tools to ensure compliance with the organization’s policies and external regulatory frameworks.

Implementation & Testing:

  • Lead the implementation of the updated disaster recovery and business continuity plans across the organization.
  • Coordinate and manage routine disaster recovery testing, including simulations and real-world scenario planning, to validate the effectiveness of plans.
  • Provide post-testing analysis and refine plans based on lessons learned and emerging risks.

Training & Awareness:

  • Deliver training and awareness programs to stakeholders, including senior leadership, department heads, and operations teams.
  • Ensure all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities in the event of a disruption, and that they are trained in incident response protocols.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with senior management, IT teams, manufacturing operations, and external partners to ensure alignment of business continuity objectives.
  • Engage with key external stakeholders such as vendors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless collaboration during a crisis.
  • Present DR & BC strategies and updates to the executive team, providing clear insights into risks and mitigation plans.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Continuity Management, IT, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CBCP, ISO 22301, CISSP, CISA) are preferred.

Experience:

  • A proven track record in delivering disaster recovery, business continuity, or risk management in a global organization.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing DR & BC frameworks across multiple sites.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of disaster recovery technologies, cloud platforms, and backup solutions.
  • Familiarity with ISO 22301 standards for Business Continuity Management and IT DR frameworks such as ITIL and NIST.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills to drive initiatives across global teams.

Problem Solving & Adaptability:

  • Ability to manage complex and fast-evolving situations under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically.
