Job Description

My client has been established for over 20 years and are a bank that provides specialist lending to consumers and businesses alike. Their focus is across vehicle, plant and machinery, property and other hard asset finance across the UK. In addition, they have recently moved into the bridging finance market and are looking to expand their lending portfolio. The bank is AIM listed and employs over 100 staff across the City and home counties.

They are looking for a credit analyst to join their team who is able to undertake the following duties:

  • Undertake regular hindsight sample case reviews and provide analysis and oversight on creditworthiness, affordability and sustainability of underwriter’s decisions whilst ensuring adherence to Bank policies reporting any breaches 
  • Provide second line hindsight review analysis by way of written reports of reported frauds 
  • Assist Senior Credit Risk Manager in the production of quarterly reports in respect of hindsight case reviews
  • Assist Senior Credit Manager in the production of quarterly reports in respect of Large Exposures including ‘deep dive’ reviews
  • Review, maintain and recommend any changes to the format of such reviews Assist with the design and implementation of credit risk processes and systems as identified
  • Assist in any review of credit risk concentration and collateral risks in the asset finance and bridging portfolio  Secretary to the Credit Committee: Organise and prepare agendas as required by members, minute meetings written up for approval in a timely fashion and accurately record specific terms of any approvals

Required Experience & skills:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in underwriting or assessing Asset Finance transactions to consumers and businesses in either a first- or second-line capacity 
  • Ability to analyse and assess credit reference agency credit reports
  • At least a basic understanding in analysing company financial statements
  • Knowledge of financeable assets appropriate for Hire Purchase and Finance Lease including vehicles (cars, light and heavy commercial vehicles, motorhomes, buses and coaches), plant and machinery and other hard assets  
  • Strong analytical approach to assessing credit decisions and risk mitigants
  • A basic understanding of the Consumer Credit Act and FCA Rules in respect of CONC;
  • Regulatory knowledge and understanding of the FCA’s requirements in respect of creditworthiness, affordability and sustainability in addition to KYC, AML and TCF requirements
  • Comfortable working independently whilst possessing a high-level of interpersonal and diplomacy skills to consult effectively and facilitate collaboration with work colleagues across all departments
  • Integrity, attention to detail and a well organised approach to all aspects of work
  • A desire to develop and grow in the role
  • Knowledge of Bridging loans would be preferable although not essential
  • Proficient/advanced skills in excel, word and power-point
