Job Description

I am supporting one of our clients on their search for a new CRO based in West London.

The role holder will establish and embed the Banks risk management strategy in alignment with its commercial objectives.

Salary on offer: £ 140,000 – £ 160,000

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Guiding the Business in the execution of their risk management responsibilities
  • Support strategic planning of the Board and Senior Management
  • Analyse and report on risk related trends and regulatory impact the Bank’s business
  • Provide challenge on, any business strategy outside the Bank's risk appetite Risk Assessment, Management and Control
  • Maintenance & review of a Risk Management Framework policies and procedures as required
  • Provide risk management oversight
  • Assess the Bank's systems and controls
  • Support improvement of systems, policies, processes and management tools as required
  • Ensure that the risk function is appropriately resourced
  • Review and challenge new products
  • Develop a Risk inventory and Risk register
  • Develop the ICAAP, ILAAP and RRP
  • Lead the response on regulatory queries relating to Risk Management upon request
  • Lead the Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)
  • Ensure appropriate Risk data analysis
  • Review risk related models and methodologies to ensure appropriateness for the
  • Oversee Operational Risk Management Framework and RCSA’s results
  • Credit Limit approval according to credit risk policies
  • Monitor, control and escalate limit and policy breaches
  • Reporting and Communication with Senior Management & Board
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of risk reports
  • Report to the Audit & Risk Committee and Board on risk exposures
  • Proactively communicate with regulators, in consultation with the CEO, in relation to the Bank’s risk and regulatory reporting
  • Escalate, where appropriate, key risk concerns directly to the Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee
  • Communicate relevant risk issues to the Group CRO

Qualifications needed:

  • Minimum a Bachelor’s degree holder with preference for Master’s degree
  • Solid experience of UK regulatory risk management requirements plus extensive experience in risk management frameworks and implementation as per regulatory and best practice requirements obtained at a medium sized regional or local UK bank
  • Extensive experience of risk management, in particular credit risk and operational risk
  • Knowledge of banking products and direct experience of Corporate, Retail and Private Bank sectors
  • Process management skills to ensure an effective and efficient credit process
  • Experience of working in a developed market / multi country experience
  • Direct experience of the Corporate, Retail and Private Bank sectors
  • Arabic language a plus but not essential
