ALM Manager

  • London
  • £65,000-£80,000 Base + Benefits + Bonus

My client is a major, UK bank headquartered in London. They are looking for an ALM manager with experience in Treasury FX Risk or IRRBB to join their treasury function. They are looking for a candidate who has some financial analysis experience and can manage their business models, carry out forecasting and analysis of business performance as well as modelling and monitoring their non-traded FC and Interest Rate Risks within treasury.

They are open to a range of backgrounds and will consider candidates from 1st or 2nd line roles provided you can demonstrate an understanding of FX risk, have solid knowledge of banking products and have some experience of working in a treasury function.

Through working closely with the business, you’ll define reporting requirements and understand any underlying drivers to support the preparation of a consolidated view of the bank’s exposure to non-traded market risk. You’ll also manage positions within a robust framework of controls that you influence and champion.

The role will also involve:

  • Providing analysis to support hedging decisions
  • Managing net investment hedging programme for foreign currency subsidiaries and branches
  • Supporting retail and commercial franchise product hedging
  • Highlighting how economic scenarios impact capital ratio sensitivity to exchange rate movements
  • Documenting and validating the inputs and results of the models, with a full understanding of the assumptions used and the sensitivity of outputs to changes in those assumptions

The skills you’ll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need experience in banking, accounting or a treasury environment. An awareness of foreign exchange rate risk, and the accounting framework, including net investment hedging will be an advantage as will be an awareness of the Retail and Commercial banking products, including the inherent risks that these generate and the instruments that can be used to hedge these risks. It’ll be ideal if you have financial analysis and modelling skills.
