Information Security – Mid Year Market Report 2012

The outlook for the information security market in 2012 is not only dependent on the performance of the economy but also on Eurozone inspired uncertainly. However, sentiment towards recruitment continues to be positive and many managers are optimistic that they will be encouraged to spend their recruitment budgets during the second half of 2012.

Vacancies currently continue to be primarily mid level and demand remains strong for experienced penetration testers together with data privacy and data protection specialists.

  • New vacancies from our sample companies fell from 48 in the second half of 2011 to 44 in the first half of 2012.
  • The number of information security practitioners accepting new positions in the first half of 2012 was 61% below the peak achieved in the second half of 2010.
  • The overall salary increases achieved by information security practitioners changing jobs rose from 9% in the second half of 2011 to 13% in the first half of 2012.
