Head of Compliance (Marine Insurance)

  • London
  • £120,000 - £140,000

My client is a leading Insurance provider to the marine industry.

This is a truly exciting role

They are looking to hire a replacement head of compliance to oversee the UK compliance operation and be the SM16. They are looking for someone who might be at another marine insurer looking to take the step up to Head of Compliance. They will consider candidates from a broking background who don’t necessarily have the marine insurance product exposure.

Understanding of solvency II, insurance distribution directive, PRA and FCA handbooks and some understanding of sanctions frameworks are key for this role.

This is a management role but also requires someone to get stuck in and be hands on across all areas of compliance.

Ideally, you will have Insurance broking experience specifically protection and indemnity.

Your responsibilities will include.

  • The firm’s obligations in relation to individual conduct rules for training and reporting.
  • Compliance with the requirements of the regulatory system about the management responsibilities map.
  • Monitoring the effective implementation of policies and procedures for the induction, training and professional development of all the firm’s senior managers/key function holders (other than the firms governing body)
  • The firm’s performance of its obligation under Fitness and Propriety in respect of notified non-executive directors and those who perform a key function.
  • Customer Complaint Handling

Salary on offer is £120,000 – £140,000 dependant on experience.

Expectation is to work in the London office one day a week and 4 at home.
