Legal Counsel

  • London
  • to£85,000 + benefits

My client is a large financial services firm in high growth mode. They are looking to really grow out their in house asset management offering and are looking for a lawyer to join them at an incredibly exciting time. As part of this growth they are looking to greatly grow their direct investments which could be in a number of areas including private equity investments.

They will start with unregulated lending in Q1 2023 and move into regulated by the end of year and plan to quickly look to making over £4 billion investments a year. This makes it one of the most exciting departments to join the in the city. You will work with exceptional quality of people in an environment that is friendly and supportive. The calibre of the front office team is as good as anywhere you will find and this role will play a pivotal role in helping grow out the offering.

You will report into the head of the department but work closely with a fantastic Senior Legal Counsel who joined them earlier in 2022.

You will ideally either be working for an asset manager dealing with illiquid investments or other in house roles/private practice with either background in this or potentially finance as well. The department head prides herself on looking for talent from all backgrounds so will be open minded but applicants will need some strong relevant experience as they need someone who can hit the ground running.

They will consider applicants from NQ upwards but ideally they’d like someone with at least 1 year PQE. You will need to be eligible to work in the UK and ideally be common law qualified.

This is one of the most exciting roles I have worked on for a junior lawyer and is a brilliant opportunity for the right person.
