Director of Data Engineering
Barclay Simpson are currently shortlisting for an entrepreneurial Director of Data Engineering.
You will have a vision and ability to make things happen as well as being able to design a platform from a technical and team standpoint. You will also make key decisions for tool chains and architecture while also hiring the engineering team to run the operations.
Responsibilities:
- Mapping data platform and taking ownership of it
- Leading the Data Engineering team on the data platform
- Design the architect and development process to integrate different data sources together to the core data platform
- Advise and help build data product MVPs that can then be operationalised at scale
- Create the view on quality, ensuring appropriate QA processes are inbuilt to maximise data integrity and accuracy
- Own and share continually updated documentation of all data structures and ETL/ELT processes
Experience Required:
- Considerable commercial data engineering experience
- AWS, Azure or GCP
- Understanding of DevOps practices.
- CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Kimball star/snowflake methodology databases.
- Experience of architecture
- Understanding of various data provision/visualisation applications e.g. Power BI
