Treasury Qualifications

The ACT has had its own dedicated professional treasury qualification since 1985. The initial standards were and have remained high. In terms of its rigor the full MCT qualification would be considered comparable to a CCAB accounting qualification or for example the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

For those interested in Treasury training the qualification has two parts. The AMCT Diploma in Treasury leads to Associate membership and the designatory letters ACMT. The Advanced Diploma in Treasury, Risk and Corporate Finance leads to Full membership and the designatory letters MCT.

The Diploma is made up of Stage One which consists of four foundation papers from which qualified accountants are exempt. Stage Two requires students to pass one of two Certificate papers one of which is specifically designed for the public sector. Stage Three requires students to pass two out of four elective Certificate papers.

All six of the Certificate papers can be sat individually and treated as stand alone qualifications.

The Advanced Diploma in Treasury consists of five units. The first three comprise independent study and group tutorials. The fourth unit is an individual project of the student’s choice and the fifth a revision unit that leads to two final three hour examinations.
