Head of Investments

This well known insurance business is now looking to recruit a Head of Investments. Based in Cardiff, and reporting to the CFO, you will run the Group’s investment committee and have continuous oversight of the Group’s investment holdings.



  • Work with the Group CFO and other colleagues to design, recommend and execute investment strategy (including asset and liability matching reviews)
  • Lead regular reviews of the strategy and Investment Policy
  • Maintain oversight of investment holdings and compliance with Investment Policy
  • Prepare budgets for Group investment income and free cash flow
  • Manage relationships with asset managers and banks
  • Ensure strong controls and processes (Solvency II compliant) remain in place around investment data
  • Ensure accurate, timely, useful investment Management Information (including risk indicators) is produced and reported to relevant colleagues, committees and Board
  • Manage the operation of the Group Investment Committee
  • Present to Committees and Boards as required on strategy, holdings, risk indicators
  • Work with Risk colleagues on Market Risk Appetite and relevant risk indicators
  • Manage asset reporting for Solvency II Pillar III
  • Maintain good relationships with relevant colleagues within Finance, Risk, Actuarial and Investor Relations functions
  • Maintain control over portfolio of UK bank accounts
  • Contribute as a senior member of the Finance Team



  • Relevant experience for the role, preferably gained within an insurance investments environment
  • Exposure to treasury management and asset & liability matching
  • A relevant financial qualification, with a strong academic background
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
