Corporate Legal Jobs
Corporate Legal Jobs
While UK demand falls for corporate lawyers; Middle East is promising
Corporate law is one of the largest practice areas within the legal profession and the majority of lawyers, whether in-house or in private practice, will undertake corporate work as part of their role. Corporate lawyers advise on a broad range of matters covering transactional and deal based work. This will include mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity, flotation (IPOs), venture capital, joint ventures and raising finance. Deal size will vary and some of the larger deals may take many months to complete.
The current economic climate has certainly affected the corporate legal jobs market. There are less M&A deals occurring and few companies are seeking a listing. However, there is still transactional activity in the private equity market that also drives the demand for corporate law jobs. Several companies will be restructuring via business sales or asset disposals as they seek to ready themselves for tough trading conditions and a scarcity of credit.
Barclay Simpson is handling a number of in-house and private practice corporate legal jobs in the UK and the Middle East where the market is still fairly buoyant. UK qualified corporate lawyers are highly sought after by large telecommunications, oil & gas, property and commercial companies, as well as magic and silver circle law firms.
